Amazon had quite a smashing press event yesterday morning (read our round up about it, from where you can continue on to the individual device details), but that does not mean that we know all there is to know about the new Kindle Fire family. It goes without saying that Amazon attracted their fair share of detractors for including Special Offers on the lock screen for US models, meaning these tablets will arrive in your box with ads built right into them. Since you have no option right from the get go to pay for an ad-free version, what are you as a consumer supposed to do? Well, an email (which you can read in its full glory right after the jump) sent to an Engadget read from Amazon claims that there will be an option to remove the ads, and this announcement will happen “soon.”

Special Offers appear directly on your Kindle Fire. Offers appear on your lock screen, and you can also view offers from the Home screen by tapping Offers. By delivering these offers to your Kindle Fire, Amazon is able to sell it for a lower price.

I understand that you would like to opt out of the special offer and willing to pay extra for opting out special offer. Options for unsubscribing special offer will be announced soon.

To ensure the utmost attention, I’ve also passed your message on to the appropriate people in our company. We value customer feedback such as yours as it helps us continue to improve the service and selection we provide.
