It seems that the official Roku mobile app is now available for download, and there is every possibility of it ending up as the best remote in the house, but I guess a lot of that is also subject to personal tastes and preferences. With the new and improved Roku mobile app, you are now able to stream your carefully pruned music playlists as well as favorite photos straight from your iPhone or Android device to the spanking new Smart TV in your living room, courtesy of the new Play on Roku feature.

To sweeten the deal, Roku has made available this new mobile app for free, which is a surefire way of making sure plenty of people download it and give it a go. Who says there is no free lunch in this world any more? I guess there are moments when some of the finer and better things in life still come across as free. International customers will be pleased to discover that the app will be available in the UK, Canada and Ireland later today.

Play on Roku works great with the entire range of Roku 2 models, the current-generation Roku HD player (model #2500), and Roku LT (models #2400 and 2450), in addition to the upcoming Roku Streaming Stick.
