The Sony α99 (or A99 if that rolls off your eyes easier) has just been announced. We first heard about it through speculated photos that were snapped using the Sony α99 by a certain Michael Yamashita who since then had respectfully requested those photos to be removed, which we complied. Not only that, a bunch of Sony α99 images were also leaked just yesterday to increase the anticipation of such a DSLR. We are then glad to announce that the latest high-end full-frame DSLR from Sony, the Sony α99, has just been revealed to the world where it carries with it a new 24.3-megapixel CMOS sensor.

Apart from that, it also does Full HD videos with continous autofocus for some truly stunning home-made videos, making your family and friends wonder whether you hired a professional to capture the recent family event or not. The electronic viewfinder itself also comes with 100% field coverage, and just in case you have half a mind to carry the Sony α99 with you all day long, you will be glad to know that the magnesium alloy body tips the scale at only 733 grams, boasting a comfortable and ergonomic design to boot. It will arrive in markets this October for €2,800 sans any lens kit. Enjoy the photo gallery of the Sony α99 after the jump.
