If you own an Acer Iconia A500 tablet, you’re probably wondering if and when Acer will get around to releasing the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for your device. Well instead of waiting around for Acer to get a move on things, one XDA developer has decided to take things into his own hands and he has since been working on an Android 4.2 AOSP port for the A500 tablet. So far the port has been a success, although we guess success might not be the best choice of words here. While he did manage to get the port up and running, there are still many features lacking and are not working at the moment, such as the camera, audio, and Bluetooth just to name a few. Of course given the early stages of the port, this is to be expected. While this port might not be for everyone to flash onto their A500 tablets, it is still a good sign that indicates that while an official update may or may not be worked on, an unofficial one is at the very least. We’re not sure when randomblame will be able to get this port finished and up and running, but more details can be found in the XDA forums.
