The Huawei Ascend W1 is certainly no secret but for those who have missed out on the news, the Ascend W1 is Huawei’s take on a Windows Phone 8 device and based on the leaks we’ve seen so far (assuming they are real), the Ascend W1 has followed in the footsteps of its Nokia and HTC competition by adopting bright and distinctive colors for its design. So far apart from the various leaked photos, there has been no word on when or where the device will be released but supposedly during a conference that took place in Milan, the manager of Huawei Italy confirmed that the company would be releasing a Windows Phone shortly.

It should be noted that the manager said “a” Windows Phone, and did not specifically out the Ascend W1, but considering that the Ascend W1 appears to be the only known WP device in Huawei’s stable at the moment, there is a good chance that he could be referring to it. Either way word has it that it could be revealed in all of its official glory come CES 2013 and given that it is one of the biggest consumer electronics expo, we wouldn’t be surprised if Huawei chose that time frame, but until we hear otherwise take it with a grain of salt and check back with us at a later date for the details.
