Microsoft’s Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 operating systems – the former being for computers while the other is meant for the mobile platform, has been around for just a short while, but it seems that the software giant is preparing to roll out an OS update which will be known as Windows Blue, which might even replace Windows 8 in a matter of months. It certainly sounds very far fetched, but who knows? Stranger things might not have happened, but this could very well be the first time. Word has it that Windows Blue will resemble Windows 8 a whole lot, albeit with just some minor user interface tweaks, and will most probably retain the Windows 8 to keep things uniform, although stuff underneath the hood might be different.

It is said that Microsoft wants Windows Blue to be on everyone’s computer, and that would also require Microsoft to price it right, or even release it for free so that users can perform the upgrade. From hence, it is said that Microsoft will roll out regular annual updates that will be standardized across desktop and mobile devices. What do you think of this idea?
