There are whispers going around that Microsoft will be introducing its latest update to the Windows Phone 7 operating system, which would clock up the version number of 7.8, earlier than expected. Just how early would that be? Well, we do hear of whispers that it will be as early as this coming Wednesday, at least according to the folks over at WMPoweruser.com. WMPoweruser’s sources of this Wednesday’s alleged release date for the Windows Phone 7.8 operating system update remain unnamed, so there is no way to tell whether this is true or not. The best weapon against all rumors? Short of an official announcement, patience is the key here.

All we need to do is wait until Wednesday with a pinch of salt, and that is when all will be revealed. Windows Phone 7.8 is said to offer some of the older Windows Phone powered devices a spanking new Start screen and a Bing-based lock screen amongst others. Are you looking forward to what Windows Phone 7.8 is able to deliver?
