You can more or less say that the HTC Butterfly is one highly desirable smartphone based on the hardware specifications alone. After all, how many smartphones out there do come with a Full HD 5-inch display in tow? Not many, and this 1080p handset is already available in the US as the HTC Droid DNA, while folks living in the Land of the Rising Sun can wrap their fingers around the HTC J Butterfly. However, how about the rest of the world? Rumors do point toward an official China release in due time as the HTC Butterfly, but it seems that folks living in Europe will not be able to get in on the action.

Even though retailer Expansys had been taking down HTC Butterfly pre-orders, hoping to sell the HTC Butterfly in Europe when released, that does not seem too likely to happen any more, as the listing has already been taken down, while those who placed a pre-order were contacted with the following message, “Thank you for your recent interest and preorder of the HTC Butterfly. Unfortunately, we have now been informed by HTC that this device will not be available in European markets, and as such we have had to remove it from our website and cancel your preorder.”

Bummer, no?
