The battlefield is an extremely dangerous place, as you can never tell whether this mission which you are on is your last. Well, an army is useless if it is full of hardware but does not have humans running the show, but with tactics and weapons being more advanced these days, one could get wounded from just about anywhere, anytime. Perhaps combat medics could help save the lives of U.S. soldiers from bleeding to death in the future through the clever use of a special foam injection.

This foam has been proven in laboratories and tests to stop bleeding for up to an hour when placed within the abdominal cavities of pigs, and the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) hopes that future development on such technology might eventually lead to preventing the death of U.S. soldiers due to internal bleeding. In fact, internal bleeding has long been considered to be the leading cause of potentially survivable deaths on the battlefield, as it is crucial to ensure the injured arrive at a hospital for surgery as soon as possible. It will take some time before this special foam is a standard issue item for combat medics.
