BlackBerry 10 Training Program Has Over 1,600 Businesses Registered

Earlier this morning, we talked about how a leaked BlackBerry 10 training program revealed more information on the operating system as well as upcoming smartphone that will run on said operating system, and here we are with more news about BlackBerry 10 – it seems that over 1,600 businesses in North America have already registered themselves to take part in a BlackBerry 10 training program, where this will happen before the operating system’s official launch this coming January 30th.

Basically, the BlackBerry 10 Ready Program delivers “information, guidance and support to businesses as they prepare their IT teams and technical environments” for the new operating system, according to a spokesperson for RIM, Nick Manning. Manning claimed that the kinds of businesses that signed up were as different as day and night, where they range from Fortune 500 companies to government customers, major retailers, educational institutions and legal firms. Sure sounds like music to RIM’s ears, I am sure.

BlackBerry 10: BlackBerry 10 is a version of RIM's operating system (OS) for its smartphones. Also called BB10, the OS is completely new, and RIM (Research in Motion) claims that there is not a single line of code from previous BlackBerry OS in this version, which is based on code from QNX, an operating system that is mainly used for embedded systems like cars etc... The launch date for BlackBerry 10 is January 30 2013 and the first smartphones should arrive in the first quarter of 2013 as well. BB10 comes with a host of new features and a speedy user interface. RIM: RIM is the acronym for Research In Motion, the Canadian company behind the BlackBerry brand. RIM was founded in the mid 90s by Mike Lazaridis and with Jim Balsillie and went IPO (Initial Public Offering) in 1998. Its claim to fame was to make mobile email really effective and enterprises quickly adopted its devices and associated software and services which were highly lucrative. With the rise of iOS and Android devices, the BlackBerry franchise bumped into trouble and its decline prompted RIM to take a radical step by overhauling its BlackBerry operating system (OS) completely with QNX. The first version of the QNX BlackBerry OS is BlackBerry 10 or BB10.
