Every day that passes is another day in the iOS/Android war as both platforms are continually duking it out for mobile OS supremacy. Both platforms have had their own little victories, and today’s news is another feather in the cap of both platforms as there’s equal good news for both iOS and Android here.

In a report published today by ChangeWave Research, Apple’s iPhone is still sitting atop the list of prospective smartphone buyers. Approximately 4,000 people were polled for the report to find out which smartphone they would buy in the next 90 days, with 50 percent revealing they’d buy an iPhone. Even though it’s still in first place, that 50 percent is down from 71 percent, which ChangeWave reported last quarter.

Samsung’s smartphones, on the other hand, have garnered some attention as the amount of people considering purchasing them rose from 13 percent to 21 percent this quarter.

“Consumer buying intent for Samsung smartphones has been extraordinary to start the year. Considering the Galaxy S3 has been out for several months we’d normally expect a slowdown by now — but it’s still red hot,” said ChangeWave’s Paul Carton. “We’re also seeing strong interest in Samsung’s large-screen phone — the Galaxy Note 2. Supersize smart phones are taking the industry by storm in 2013.”

Seeing as both the Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S may be announced and launched very close to one another this year, both phones will probably be going head-to-head again this year in the eyes of potential smartphone buyers.
