text-and-drive-adults-worse-than-teens

We should all know by now just how dangerous it is to text and drive a vehicle, especially if you’re a school bus driver, but it seems no matter how hard we try to avoid it, there are many of us who absolutely can’t let a text go until we reach a red light or come to a complete stop. You would think the people who are the most guilty in performing this dangerous act are teenagers, but a new report shows adults are the real danger on the road.

According to a survey conducted by AT&T, nearly 50 percent of adults admitted they have texted while behind the wheel of their vehicle, compared to 43 percent of teenagers who took the same surgery. Nearly all of them, 98 percent to be exact, admitted the act was wrong, but still couldn’t help but do it anyways. 60 percent of those surveyed said they weren’t texting and driving three years ago, which has us wondering what has happened within the past three years to spark this kind of dangerous trend in adults? Smartphones have been around for the past three years, but maybe it’s carriers bundling unlimited texts into their customers’ plans that may be the culprit.
