We’re sure that some Nintendo Wii U owners are bummed that Crysis 3 will not be arriving on their console, as stated by Crytek themselves. However if it is any consolation, it seems that the developers came pretty close to launching Crysis 3 on Nintendo’s latest console system. According to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli (via VentureBeat), the developer managed to get the game up and running on the Wii U and were “very close to launching it”. So if they managed to get it to work, why didn’t they launch it? It seems that there was a lack of business support between Nintendo and EA, and because Crytek did not have a publishing license, they could not launch Crysis 3 on the Wii U themselves. Ultimately this meant that they had to kill the project. So close, but yet so far. Will we be seeing Crysis 3 launch on the Wii U in the future? That’s hard to say but at least for now, we know that it was a business decision rather than a hardware or software problem that held it back.
