Temple Run has been making millions of its players endlessly run to see how far they can get with their stolen idol ever since it was originally released back in the summer of 2011 on iOS. Imangi Studios released the Android version of Temple Run several months later in March 27 2012, and exactly one year later, Windows Phone finally gets the Temple Runs.

If you’re a Windows Phone user who is expecting to play Temple Run 2 on your device, you’ll be severely disappointed as this is the original Temple Run that has been released. In other words, don’t expect to endlessly run your way in the great outdoors as you zip-line and minecart your way through the game.

Hopefully with today’s release, Imangi Studios will see enough feedback from Windows Phone 8 users to warrant working on releasing Temple Run 2 on the platform. Seeing how they just released the original Temple Run today, we’re sure it’ll be a couple of months until they consider releasing its sequel. Either way, Windows Phone 8 users should head to their marketplace and pick up a game they’ve probably been waiting years to play.
