apple-decryptIt seems that the long arm of the law has been knocking on Apple’s door quite frequently in recent times, where the police have asked Apple to decrypt a fair number of iPhones. The thing is, Apple has actually come up with a police waiting list, now how about that, due to the unusually high demand, in an effort to handle the deluge of requests. Court documents do point to federal agents being so stymied by the encrypted iPhone 4S of a Kentucky man who was accused of distributing crack cocaine, and this incident caused them to enlist Apple’s help when it came to decryption sometime last year.

An agent at the ATF, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, was said to have “contacted Apple to obtain assistance in unlocking the device,” or so it was mentioned by U.S. District Judge Karen Caldwell recently. Judge Caldwell also wrote that the ATF was “placed on a waiting list by the company.” What do you think of this particular waiting list? Should Apple dedicate a team to help the law out?
