xboxone-recordThe folks over at Microsoft must still be beaming over the fact that last week’s reveal of the Xbox One, the Apple TV that some say Steve Jobs really wanted to roll out, proved to be a qualified success. In fact, the Xbox team had been hard at work for a fair number of years just to make their mark at this particular event, and the Xbox Reveal event actually achieved a record-breaking viewership in the process where there was more than 8.45 million people who tuned in to watch the Xbox Reveal event within the first 24 hours, where it actually managed to hold its own against one of the top-most concurrent streamed events ever.

Xbox.com saw the previous concurrency record nearly triple compared to any other major event in Xbox.com history. Akamai, Microsoft’s our streaming partner, did mention that the Xbox Reveal event proved to be one of the most watched live broadcasts delivered by Akamai to date, where it nearly doubled peak traffic records while eclipsing concurrent viewership high-water marks which were previously set by events like the 2010 World Cup, Royal Wedding in 2011, and 2012 election night. Did you contribute to such a record breaking figure? Let us hope that the Xbox One will live up to claims that there will be no more Red Ring of Death issues.
