Google_SignJust last week we reported that over in China, Samsung appears to be dominating the smartphone market and according to a report at CNET, they are not alone as it would seem that the Android operating system in general is dominating the market. This is according to the latest report from the Kantar WorldPanel which has suggested that as of last quarter, Android devices control a whopping 51.4% of the market share over in China! As according to our previous report, Samsung is dominating other Android OEMs, and Kantar even reports that Samsung’s market share is expected to grow even more in the future.

You would think that perhaps Apple’s iOS might come second, but interestingly iOS only takes third place with 19.9%. Instead second place actually goes to Nokia’s Symbian operating system which is at 23% market share. Pretty interesting considering that the Symbian operating system is one that Nokia has no plans of continuing and will phase out in the future, but we guess with Symbian powering many a feature phone, this isn’t too surprising.
