T-Mobile UK confused the entire Internet as they released a teaser image of BlackBerry Messenger running on a Samsung Galaxy S3 announcing BlackBerry’s popular messenger would be making its way to both iOS and Android on June 27. Unfortunately, it seems like T-Mobile UK jumped the gun a bit as BlackBerry denied BBM would be made available on that date.
During today’s quarterly earnings call, BlackBerry’s CEO Thorsten Heins said BlackBerry Messenger would be available on iOS and Android “before the end of the summer.” BlackBerry is still technically on track as they originally announced BBM would be made available on iOS and Android “this summer.” Although if we learned anything from BlackBerry today in regards to their earlier announcement of BlackBerry 10 no longer headed to PlayBook , it’s that you should continually tell yourself “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Hopefully BBM on iOS and Android will be worth the wait since there are already a ton of instant messaging options available on both platforms.
