os-x-mavericks-wallpaper

Yesterday at WWDC 2013 Apple unveiled OS X Mavericks, the upcoming update for Macs. While the update itself is slated for release this fall, Apple has already released a wallpaper from OS X Mavericks for promotion purposes. It has been noted by quite a few people that this wallpaper carries double the resolution that current 27 inch iMac or Thunderbolt displays tout, leading many to believe that its actually a hint that these products might come with Retina displays in the near future.

This particular wallpapers weighs in around 3.3MB and has a resolution of 5,120 x 2,880 pixels, exactly the double of 2,560 x 1440 pixel resolution of the current 27 inch iMac. The Retina display debuted on iPhone 4, but soon enough the company brought it over to its tablets and new MacBooks. It has been rumored quite a few times before that future iMacs might come with Retina displays. It is likely that Apple may refresh the iMac lineup with Intel’s latest Haswell processors, which power the new MacBook Air models released yesterday. Perhaps those refreshed models might tout Retina displays as well. What do you think?
