Nokia

Nokia had scheduled an event for today to unveil its latest smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 1020. Apart from announcing the device, they have also made a couple of interesting announcements. It has now been confirmed that both Path and Flipboard will be releasing soon for Windows Phone 8. They have also confirmed that the Hipstamatic app will be released alongside Lumia 1020. Hipstamatic will allow users to upload photos through an official channel to Instagram, which hasn’t released a native Windows Phone app as yet.

It hasn’t been said right now whether the Flipboard and Path apps for Windows Phone 8 will be different than their iOS and Android counterparts. They have also not provided a specific release time-frame. Lumia 1020 will actually have an exclusive Hipstamatic app. Also announced today was a Windows Phone Store milestone, it now plays host to more than 165,000 apps. The Lumia 1020 is exclusive to AT&T, which starts shipping it out on July 26th. Windows Phone 8 users will no doubt appreciate this announcement, both Flipboard and Path are some of the most used apps on rival platforms, no longer will WP users feel left out.
