nintendo-e3-2013-press-conferenceWhile developers from Sony and Microsoft have not been shy about releasing their games on other platforms, Nintendo is one company is still holding on and has refused to create games for other platforms or devices, despite being urged to by many. At the moment it appears that Nintendo’s strategy could be hurting the company, but is there a long-term plan at play here? Well according to Nintendo’s president, Satoru Iwata, he believes that by continuing to develop their own games for their own consoles, it is seen as a means to secure long-term prosperity.

Iwata states that by creating games or by porting existing games onto other platforms, it would be a short-term fix and could affect the future of their franchises. According to Iwata, “If I was to take responsibility for the company for just the next one or two years, and if I was not concerned about the long-term future of Nintendo at all, it might make sense for us to provide our important franchises for other platforms, and then we might be able to gain some short-term profit.” While we applaud Iwata for standing firm and keeping his resolve, do you guys think that this is the right move for the company?
