It’s been a couple of weeks since we heard any news regarding Sony’s Vaio line as the last bit of news we reported was on their new Vaio Duo, which is the company’s “slider hybrid” machine. It seems those weeks of silence have now been broken as Sony is announcing a new line of luxury Vaio laptops that are being called “Red Edition” and is not only adding a fresh coat of paint to previously released Vaio laptops, but also bumping up their specs.

The Vaio Red Edition includes a red version of its Duo, Pro and Fit models, but Sony put more thought into these machines than just grabbing a paint brush and slapping them with red paint. Sony used multiple techniques for different materials in order to have each machine come out the way they wanted them to. Once they were the perfect color, Sony then treated them with an ultraviolet coating that gives these machines a glossy shine.

All of the Vaio Red Edition laptops is powered by Intel’s fourth-generation Haswell Core i7 processor as well as equipping a full HD screen onto them. The Vaio Fit Red Edition comes with at least 12GB of RAM, while the Duo and Pro feature SSDs of up to 512GB. All Red Edition of Sony’s Vaio laptops are currently available with the Fit 15 retailing for $2,000, the Pro 13 for $2,600 and the Duo 13 for $3,000.
