This isn’t exactly the first time that a Windows 8.1 build has leaked. It has only been over a month since Microsoft launched the preview of Windows 8.1, it is believed that the company will finalize the update over the next couple of weeks. Windows 8.1 Build 9471 has leaked, which is reportedly a test version of the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build that is going to be released later this month. The latest build shows off some new improvements in the upcoming major Windows 8 update.
One evident improvement over the preview is the new Help + Tips app, which contains a number of video tutorials to help users understand and navigate the OS in a much more efficient manner. Similar to Windows Phone, a row of three dots are now present in Windows 8.1 that pull up the application bar as well as options and settings in native apps such as People, Calendar, Mail, etc. Native apps also contain various tips to teach users to swipe so that they can access Charms. The latest leaked build shows off user interface changes for Calendar and People apps. Mail app has been updated with a new sidebar for easy access to folders, favorite people and categories. Food & Drink and Health & Fitness apps are also bundled in this build, Photos app now has full SkyDrive integration. No word as yet on the release date for the final version of Windows 8.1.
