SAMSUNG CSCWe’re not sure how many of you guys need a portable projector that will allow you to project photos and videos from your smartphone onto a larger surface, but in case you do Aiptek has a new project/battery pack combo for the iPhone 5 that should be able to get the job done. Debuted at IFA 2013, the company is calling this product the MobileCinema i55. Aiptek is no stranger to the portable projector market and has launched similar products in the past, but not surprisingly the MobileCinema i55 will come with new features that its predecessors did not have.

The device will allow users to project anything on their iPhone onto a surface and will go as big as 60”. At the same time the case will also double as a battery pack for the iPhone, allowing users to recharge their device when the battery runs low, presumably while projecting movies or videos. Aiptek is also boasting that the MobileCinema i55 will offer double the brightness compared to similar products available in the market, and while it is designed for the iPhone 5 in mind, it will also come with a HDMI input for use with other devices.

The specs of the projector includes a 50 ANSI lumens with a native resolution of 640×480, built-in speakers, manual focus, USB and micro USB ports for charging non-iPhone devices, and its battery pack comes with a 3,000mAh battery that should be able to fully charge an iPhone 5 and then some. It is expected to arrive in Europe and North American markets for £220.
