China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile carrier, has never carried the iPhone. Both Apple and the carrier haven’t been able to reach a deal, while two of China Mobile’s rivals in the country have already been officially selling iPhones for quite some time now. It was rumored earlier this year that perhaps the carrier might finally receive the next generation iPhone. A few weeks ago Apple CEO Tim Cook met with the carrier’s chief in China, who said that they were keen on selling the iPhone but technical and commercial issues remained. According to the Wall Street Journal, the upcoming iPhones may finally be heading to China Mobile.

Previous rumors suggest that China will be one of the launch markets in which Apple initially releases the new iPhones on September 20th. China Mobile is rumored to carry both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5S is the successor to iPhone 5, whereas iPhone 5C is the much rumored budget iPhone that is apparently priced in a sweet spot for the Chinese market. This particular smartphone is expected to become a huge hit in markets like India and China. Analysts expect that getting the iPhones on China Mobile might aid Apple is selling an extra 20 million units in the country, where its revenue took a 14 percent dip this quarter as compared to the same time last year.
