nasa-voyagerThe scientists over at NASA have just confirmed that the Voyager 1 space probe has made history yet again, as it is now the first human constructed object to leave the solar system, as it continues to make its way across the rest of interstellar space. Over the year, the Voyager 1’s precise location has been debated among experts as to whether it has left our solar system, and I guess when NASA said it is official, then it is. The magnitude of this achievement is definitely a testament to the team behind the Voyager 1 space probe as it made an amazing 12 billion mile trip after being launched in 1977.

Voyager 1 has held up thus far, flying through space at a whopping 37,000 miles an hour, and now that it is so far away, it requires 17 hours just to “phone home”. David Alexander, who heads Rice University’s Space Institute, said, “The science we will get back from Voyager will change what we know about the universe, simply because we know so little beyond our solar system. We haven’t been there before. The science we will get back from Voyager will change what we know about the universe.” Is there no stopping the Voyager 1 after all these years?
