iphone-5s-home-buttonAccording to the rumors, Apple could be set to announce their next-gen iPads come 15th of October. So far we’ve seen the alleged leaked shells of the next-gen iPad and next-gen iPad mini, with the iPad sporting a similar design to the iPad mini which would make its bezels thinner, but make the overall device thinner and smaller as well, at least compared to its predecessors. However now thanks to a new report from DigiTimes, it has been reported that Apple will introduce a sapphire crystal home button on the next-gen iPads as well.

As it stands, the sapphire crystal home button is used on the iPhone 5s and is designed to help prevent scratches and is also placed on top of fingerprint sensor which has been embedded into the iPhone 5s’ home button itself. While DigiTimes might have a spotty track record with Apple rumors, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to think that Apple could be looking to keep things uniform across their devices. The report goes on to state that Apple is looking into using sapphire crystal as a display itself for future iPhones which seems to echo an earlier Apple patent which looks at incorporating more sapphire crystal into future products.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Will the next-gen iPads sport sapphire crystal home buttons?
