pbs-xbox-360-app

Gamers are probably very well aware they can use their consoles for other things besides playing video games. Microsoft is actually betting big on the future of the Xbox One doing everything else in addition to playing video games. Netflix, Hulu and even The CW have their own dedicated applications that allow Xbox 360 owners to watch streaming video on their respective networks, and PBS is now making its content available as well.

America’s Public Broadcasting Service is announcing they are now available on the Xbox 360, where those who watch PBS content on a regular basis can now view both local and national programming through their game console. As is the case with the majority of streaming video applications on the Xbox 360, you’ll need an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to view PBS content.

The PBS app on the Xbox 360 includes new and previously released shows, such as NOVA, American Experience, Secrets of the Dead, Austin City Limits and, of course, Downton Abbey. In addition to full-length episodes of PBS shows, you’ll also be able to view clips from the channel’s more popular shows as well as web-original video from their PBS Digital Studios.

One show that wasn’t mentioned that would be available on the PBS app is Sesame Street. Hopefully this is just something PBS forgot to mention as we can’t imagine a greater reason to download their app than to make a trip down to Sesame Street.
