BlackBerry-Q10-Review-8

The new BlackBerry 10 platform was launched earlier this year in January. Since then, the Canadian manufacturer has released four devices powered by it. While the devices haven’t done spectacularly well in the market, there are still a lot of loyal BlackBerry users out there who’re either hanging on to their legacy devices or have already upgraded to a new BB. The company has released a new app which makes it much easier to move to BlackBerry 10 if you’re coming up from a legacy device or even from rival platforms like iOS and Android.

The app is called Device Switch, it makes the process of switching over to a new BlackBerry device if you’re upgrading from a BlackBerry OS version 5-7.x device. Its very easy to use, just connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network and start sending data over from your existing device to the new one. Users will have the ability to select exactly what data they want to transfer, they can choose to leave out things like photos or videos and transfer crucial items like contacts and calendar. The transfer begins when a PIN code is shared between the two devices, evidently BlackBerry has focused on making these transfers safe. BlackBerry Device Switch app is available as a free download from the BlackBerry World.
