oppo-n1When one thinks of custom Android ROMs for their smartphone, chances are CyanogenMod comes to mind. This is because CyanogenMod is one of the most popular custom ROMs available for Android devices due to its wide compatibility and strong development team. However flashing a custom ROM might not be for everyone, especially the less tech savvy, which is why when it was rumored that the Oppo N1 could be the first phone to come with CyanogenMod preinstalled, many were interested to see what the end result would be like.

Unfortunately this was not 100% true. The Oppo N1 will come with the company’s own ColorOS system, but at the same time users will have the option of installing CyanogenMod directly from the phone itself, without the user having to worry about rooting and installing a custom recovery or downloading and transferring files. The good news is that if this still sounds like a lot of work, Oppo has recently announced a limited edition Oppo N1 handset that will come with CyanogenMod preinstalled out of the box. It will also come with extras such as CyanogenMod stickers, packaging specially made for CyanogenMod, and a case that will feature both CyanogenMod and Oppo mascots.

Both the regular Oppo N1 and the limited edition model will be shipping internationally come December and both devices will be priced the same, so don’t let the “limited edition” tag throw you off.
