kidstablet2When the name Polaroid is mention, there is a good chance that you are probably thinking about the company’s camera products, and not necessarily smartphones or tablets, right? Well the company has dabbled in Android in the past with their Android-powered cameras, like the Polaroid iM1836, but now it looks like the company will be diving into the tablet market for kids (again) as well with the recently announced, and rather uninspiring, Kids Tablet 2, the successor to the original Kids Tablet that debuted at CES 2013 earlier this year.

Given that this is a tablet designed for children in mind, the hardware on this device is hardly the most stellar. It will feature a 7” 1024×600 display, a 1.6GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD, and will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It will also feature a front-facing camera. The tablet will also come bundled with features designed for kids in mind, such as over 70 ebooks and apps worth at least $100 in value, and will feature publications from Disney, Marvel, and Cartoon Network. It will also feature bumpers along the side of tablet that should make it a bit more durable, and will also come with parental controls to allow parents to determine what sort of content their children will have access to. The Kids Tablet 2 is priced at $149 and will be available for purchase via Toys R Us.
