gold-p9982Back in November, BlackBerry unveiled the Porsche Design P’9982 handset which was essentially a BlackBerry Z10 in a different form, a more expensive form to be exact with a price tag of around $2,400. We then saw a limited edition version of the phone which came with a crocodile skin back and now it looks like the handset is getting an even more exclusive and expensive variant in the form of gold plating, which customers with deep enough pockets can expect to get for around $6,400. This is not an official BlackBerry release, but it is still the same phone albeit plated in gold by a third-party, so rest assured you will be getting the same hardware specs under the hood.

What this means is that in case you weren’t aware of the BlackBerry Z10, the Porsche Design P’9982 is essentially the same phone and you can expect a 4.2” 720p HD display. It will also be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, and will run on BlackBerry 10, although that this is a Porsche Design handset, the theme of the UI, such as its fonts and buttons, will be different from the stock version of BlackBerry 10. Given that this handset is almost 3 times the price of the original P’9982, we expect it will most likely make its way into fewer hands.
