One of the most popular photography apps on iOS has finally made its way to Android. VSCO Cam Android app has been released today after a rather lengthy beta period. Any device capable of running Android 4.o Ice Cream Sandwich or higher is compatible with this app. VSCO Cam is known for its extensive image editing tools, a wide variety of filters and simple user interface. Despite the fact that VSCO has a small team of developers, it was able to bring all of the photo processing features found on its iOS app over to Android, so users won’t have to worry about feature parity between the two apps.

Greg Lutze, co-founder of VSCO, tells The Verge that the team’s “number one” goal was to bring the “same level of excellence in the editing capabilities” to the Android app. Editing tools have same level of depth on both platforms and filters or “presets” are applied in the same way on both platforms. Though some features of the app might not be available on all Android devices. Most devices don’t have support for spot metering, so two-finger split focus and metering tool will be disabled. Once pictures have been taken, filters have been applied and it has been edited, users can effortlessly share them on a wide variety of social networks. The VSCO Cam Android app is available as a free download from Google Play Store.
