beam-plus-1

Even in this day and age where technology makes our lives so much easier, its always tough to keep in touch with family or friends that live in different parts of the world. Granted that its very easy to call, IM or video call someone using a smartphone or tablet, but its never truly a hands-free experience. Suitable Technologies, a company known for its remote presence device called Beam, today launched Beam+, a home product that simplifies checking in on your loved ones. Beam+ allows users to truly connect with those who can’t travel or simply don’t have the time to, wherever they might be in the world.

Beam+ has a 10-inch LCD flat-panel screen, two 640×480 HDR cameras capable of capturing video at 30 frames-per-second with 3x digital zoom. The remote presence device also includes a 4-microphone array with an audio amplified, support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks and a battery that offers 2 hours of call times and needs just four hours to fully charge. The entire experience is much more intuitive because users aren’t just limited to one location or just one point of view, they can pilot Beam+ using their computer, so they can follow their loved ones around the house just like they normally would. With shipping set to begin in summer 2014, the first thousand Beam+ systems are being offered at a reduced price for $995, once they run out, Beam+ will be sold for its full retail price of $1,995. If you’re interested, you can pre-order Beam+ via Suitable Technologies’ website.
