blackberry-10-pbs-univision-viacom1According to our report from earlier, it was rumored that BlackBerry planned on rolling out BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 on the 28th of January. Given that BlackBerry 10 was announced about a year ago, we don’t see why this would be a stretch of the imagination, although BlackBerry has yet to make an official announcement. In any case if you were hoping for more proof that BlackBerry could indeed release 10.2.1 on the 28th of January, you might be interested to learn that BlackBerry has announced their plans to hold a BlackBerry 10.2.1 preview in Malaysia on the 23rd of January, which is a little less than a week from its rumored release.

At the moment the event is being held in Malaysia, but it has also been speculated that the event will eventually be held in other parts of the world ahead of the 28th of January date. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information and given that the 28th of January isn’t too far off, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to see if the rumors pan out. BlackBerry 10.2.1 is expected to introduce some new changes to the operating system, and one notable feature is the ability to load Android APKs and run them directly without having to go through the trouble of sideloading them. Other features include a floating action bar and a back button.
