facebook-unfollowFacebook is a company that has plenty of money, that is for sure, and what do you do with such a huge amount of dough sitting in the bank? Why, it is about time to go shopping, of course. Larger companies might find it difficult to kick off a brand new technology, but rather, acquire companies with the technology that they already want. Having said that, the folks over at Facebook have picked up Branch Media, which are the ones behind the Branch and Potluck online conversation-sharing software packages.

Branch Media happens to be based in New York, and they will join up with a Facebook group known as Conversations, according to Branch co-founder Josh Miller. Just how did Facebook manage to land this particular deal for the 2-year-old company? Well, they wanted to“build Branch at Facebook scale,” according to the previously mentioned Miller. There were no details concerning the terms of the deal at this point in time.

As for the Branch software package, it enables users to host invitation-only conversations concerning Web-based content. Potluck happens to be a mobile app which enables friends to chat about various topics. Miller also mentioned, ”Although the products we build will be reminiscent of Branch and Potluck, those services will live on outside of Facebook.”
