here-transit-ashaHERE Transit has proven to be an invaluable help to those who own Nokia Lumia handsets, as this app enables one to get around town for free without having to rely on any data plan or Internet connection. Well, the lower end Nokia Asha owners have not had such a privilege before, at least, not until now, as Asha owners too, are able to experience the similar door-to-door navigation with HERE Transit availability on their handsets.

The Asha handsets that will be compatible with HERE Transit would be the Nokia Asha 500, Asha 501, Asha 502, and Asha 503. Do bear in mind that the HERE Transit app can be downloaded for free, which is yet another reason for you to pick it up without having to think twice about it.

Just what is HERE Transit all about for the uninitiated? It allows you to plan a journey via public transport in a jiffy, offering access to scheduled departure/arrival times from public transport companies assuming these information have been made available to Nokia beforehand. Should timetable routing be unavailable in your region, HERE Transit will offer an estimated time for your journey. HERE Transit would also take into consideration walking times since there are moments when you need to hop off one bus and wait for another.

HERE Transit for Nokia Asha will be available in Sweden, Israel, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Spain, Finland, Hungary and New Zealand. [Press Release]
