logmein-logo-blueLogMeIn is a popular remote access software which allows uses to access their computers and files from any other location. It was launched some ten years ago and quickly made a name for itself because it offered remote access for computers absolutely free. LogMeIn Free, the service which has been around the better part of a decade is no more. The company has announced today that it is unifying its portfolio of free and premium remote access products into one single offering, which will be paid-only.

LogMeIn says that this new paid-only offering is going to be the best premium desktop, mobile access and cloud experience available on the market. Starting today, users will gradually be migrated from LogMeIn’s remote access software and Ignition branded softwares to a single product. Existing users will now have to subscribe, $49 per month gets them remote access to two computers, premium apps for Android and iOS as well as native Mac and Windows apps.

Users who purchase a subscription will also be upgraded to a “premium remote access experience,” which will be integrated with popular cloud storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive and Box. The company says that customers who purchased LogMeIn Ignition for Android and iOS will receive significant discounts, including “generous” terms to ease the transition. Existing users will be given a seven day grace period in order to make up their mind about subscribing to the new service, the seven day period will begin the next time they login to a LogMeIn service.
