85-million-nikkorHere is some interesting news from the folks over at Nikon Corporation, where they are more than happy to announce that the total production of NIKKOR lenses for Nikon interchangeable lens cameras have touched the 85 million mark as of January 2014 onward. It was all the way back in 1959 when the Nikon F was released alongside the first NIKKOR lenses for Nikon SLR cameras, where among them include the NIKKOR-S Auto 5cm f/2. The NIKKOR tradition has since continued a fair number of years ever since that first lens was released.

Apart from that, Nikon continues to work on expanding its range of interchangeable lenses for Nikon 1 advanced cameras with interchangeable lenses, where the first of them rolled out in October 2011, which has made it possible to arrive at the 85 million production mark. Well, we do wonder how the other imaging companies have done in terms of interchangeable lenses being produced from the production line over the years, and as to when they will hit the 100 mark, that remains to be seen. Chances are, it will still take a number of years, but as more and more people purchase Nikon cameras in the years ahead, the light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter. [Press Release]
