UpdateAccording to our report from earlier, BlackBerry 10.2.1 is expected to be officially announced on the 28th of January 2014. When exactly it will roll out remains to be seen and will also depend on your carrier as some carriers require that they approve the update before pushing it out to the masses. Android updates are a perfect example of this.

Well it seems that someone at Verizon might have gotten ahead of themselves because according to reports, Verizon has started to push out the BlackBerry 10.2.1 update, with some subscribers receiving the notification as pictured in the screenshot above. For those who are quick on the trigger, they might have already clicked and downloaded the update, but for those who might have been a bit slow or were not part of the initial rollout, Verizon has since put a halt to it.

Presumably this is because the update is not ready to be pushed out yet, at least not until BlackBerry makes it official. According to a statement BlackBerry released regarding the rollout, “A limited number of VZW customers today received the BlackBerry 10.2.1 update however it is not generally available yet. We’ll keep you posted on general availability.” In any case this should serve as an indication that the update is already available on Verizon’s servers and are good to go, meaning that once the update has been made official, it shouldn’t take Verizon too long to begin pushing it out to BlackBerry 10 users.
