windows-phone-driving-modeEver since the advent of GPS technology for the masses, getting from point A to point B in an unfamiliar country or state is no longer a chore, and neither do you need to hone your skills of folding up paper maps the way they were folded in the first place. Not only that, you would not end up in an argument with your other half on why you didn’t decide to stop and ask the petrol attendant earlier on before driving off to nowhere. Navigation is a snap these days, and the likes of Nokia’s HERE Drive+ would make life easier on the road. The recent Black update would also allow compatible Windows Phone 8 devices to benefit from added safety features as you travel, as the Driving Mode makes life a whole lot easier.

In Driving Mode, it would be wise to enter Settings and tap on the Driving Mode set-up option. From here, you will get a clearer picture on what the new safety feature offers, where it disables all notifications other than incoming phone calls and text messages as you are at the wheel.

Not only that, you can also choose to ignore calls and/or texts, in addition to setting up an automatic text-message reply to callers and/or texters. The pre-determined responses will be sent to folks in your Contacts list only, and Driving Mode is unable to disable emergency calls and alerts, which is a good thing, of course. Don’t you think that all of these might nudge you to pick up that Windows Phone 8 device after all?
