google-maps-2-6-0Traffic will be the death of all of us, at least that’s what most drivers think when they’re hopelessly gridlocked. Nobody likes being stuck in traffic, and thanks to modern technology, we now have a better chance of finding a less congested route home. Bringing its iOS app at par with the Android counterpart, Google Maps for iOS has received a new update today which will alert users when a faster route to their ultimate destination becomes available. This feature is only available in markets where navigation is supported.

So for example before leaving the office you chart out a route to your house and set on it. Google Maps for iOS pulls in traffic information in real-time, and will send a notification when it finds a route with less traffic, which would result in a much shorter drive. Once presented with the option to change routes, you can either choose to “Reroute” or simply keep on the originally charted route by selecting “No thanks.” This feature has been available for Android users since last month, iOS users who happen to use Google Maps a lot will definitely be thankful for it. Apple Maps currently doesn’t offer a similar feature, so Maps gets a leg up on it.
