htc-butterfly-sBack in 2013, HTC unveiled the HTC Butterfly S handset and now according to reports, it seems that a HTC Butterfly S successor could be in the works. The handset is reportedly going by the model number GLU2 for now, although we’re not sure what the final name of the handset will be known as.

The reports are also claiming that it will work on CDMA2000 networks, suggesting that it will be destined for Japan and will be part of KDDI’s lineup. We’re not sure if this means it will be a Japan-only release or if the info available is just for the Japanese model.

As far as its specs are concerned, the rumors claim that the handset will pack similar specs to the upcoming HTC M8. However instead of a 5-inch Full HD display, the handset might go slightly larger with a 5.2-inch display instead. There are also claims that its display will be made by Sharp, suggesting that the handset could sport IGZO display panels.

Other rumored specs includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of onboard storage expandable via microSD, a 5MP UltraPixel dual-camera setup, similar to that of the HTC M8, and a 5MP front-facing camera with a sizeable 3,000mAh battery under the hood.

In any case since HTC has not announced anything yet, we suggest you not get your hopes up just yet but do check back with us at a later date to see if there are any additional details that can be had.
