htc-logo2Thanks to a leaked photo the other day, a certain HTC Desire 8 handset was revealed. The handset’s design and existence was then confirmed by HTC themselves when they teased its announcement for the 24th of February in Beijing. The specs of the handset were only rumors back then, but they have since been “confirmed” by the ever reliable @evleaks whose recent tweet revealed the specs of the handset, which coincidentally enough corroborates the earlier rumors as they appear to be more or less the same.

Now we knew that the HTC Desire 8 was not a high-end device, but rather one with mid-ranged specs, and these are the specs according to @evleaks. For starters we can look forward to a 5.5-inch 720p HD SuperLCD display. The handset will also be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8928 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.6GHz. it will be accompanied by 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage that can be expanded via microSD, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI, BoomSound (basically front-facing stereo speakers like the HTC One), and will be available in black, white, red, yellow, and purple. Interestingly enough @evleaks has referred to the handset as the HTC A5, although many are speculating that they could be the same device, just with different names for different markets.
