Its going to be a surge of nostalgia for Nextel users. The Nextel network was shut down last year, its customers were quite besotted with its push to talk feature, which essentially makes the phone function as a walkie-talkie. When Sprint finally integrated Nextel’s network, it tried its very best to offer a similar feature to ease previous customers back into the fold, and today it carries on with that mission. Sprint has announced that it is extending its push to talk feature to more phones through a downloadable application.
The list of Sprint Direct Connect compatible phones has now grown, as the Sprint Direct Connect Now app can easily be installed on the smartphones through Google Play Store. The new smartphones include Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, LG G2, G Flex, Optimus F3 as well as the Kyocera Hydro Edge. Sprint is going to add more phones in the near future, which include the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy Mega and the Galaxy S4 with Sprint Spark. On some plans the Direct Connect feature is free, while it costs $5 per month on other plans. The Sprint Direct Connect Now application is available as a free download from the Google Play Store.
