facetime-appApple’s iPhones have typically been known for their cameras and for the ability to capture great photos. Obviously one cannot compare iPhone photos to that of a proper camera, but as far as smartphone cameras are concerned, they are surprisingly pretty good.

Of course there are certain areas in which Apple is lacking, such as optical image stabilization and low-light photography, just to name a few areas in which their competitors are beating them in. However according to recent job listings, it seems that Apple is making efforts to step up their camera technology.

According to these listings, Apple has been placing job ads for people who might have experience related to camera and digital imaging. It is unclear which products that these jobs will target, but it has been speculated that perhaps it might be used for Apple’s rumored iTV which could come with a camera and possibly even gesture support.

It has also been speculated that perhaps with this hiring, Apple might be interested in making their own camera sensors, which at the moment are currently provided by Sony. There are also talks that about Apple TV finally getting access to FaceTime, so perhaps the hirings could be about that as well.

At this point in time it is really speculation as to what Apple’s recent job listings could be used for, but either way for those worried that Apple might lag behind in terms of camera technology, hopefully these listings will reassure you that Apple is doing something about it.
