Instagram is one of the most popular services out there used for sharing pictures. It brought about a revolution in the way we share pictures in its own right. The company has worked quite hard ever since launching its Android app back in 2012 to make it responsive, fast and easy to use. It continues with that philosophy to this day, and the latest Instagram for Android update is aimed at growing the service’s user base particularly in emerging markets, where low cost Android devices enjoy bulk of the market share.

Changes made to the Instagram Android app now make it much more faster and responsive. The company claim that users will notice that their profile screens load up twice as fast as before. The overall app size has also been halved to increase speed throughout Instagram. Its also easier to use now as the design has been made cleaner, visuals throughout the app have been simplified, thus making full use of screen space that’s particularly valuable on small devices. Buttons have been rearranged to keep them within easy reach of users.

Verizon 5.1 has been built to perform flawlessly on low end Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy Y, which happens to be one of the most popular phones in Brazil, a crucial emerging market for the company. Instagram for Android version 5.1 is live now and available for free through the Google Play Store.
