yandex-nokia-xThe Android smartphone from Nokia which is known as the Nokia X, looks set to arrive in the Russian and Belarusian markets by sporting essential search functionality from Yandex. Thanks to the Yandex.Search app arriving pre-installed on the Nokia X alongside the Yandex search engine that is the integrated search provider in the smartphone’s browser, it would make for a very different experience right out of the box compared to the Nokia X in other regions.

Basically, folks who decide to pick up the Nokia X in Russia will be able to have their mobile app needs filled by the alternative Android app store that is known as Yandex.Store, which happens to be featured in the Nokia Store. Nokia’s range of Yandex-enhanced Nokia X smartphones will also be extended to the Nokia X+ and XL, where these smartphones, too, will feature Yandex as a default search provider alongside Yandex.Store pre-installed.

It must be noted that Nokia’s smartphones have maintained their popularity in Russia and the CIS, so it is a no-brainer that Yandex has teamed up with Nokia to deliver a locally-relevant search experience, especially when one moves from a desktop to mobile environment. It is also not the first time that both companies have teamed up as in 2011, Yandex ended up as the default search provider on Nokia’s Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 which were sold in Russia.
