htc-one-m8-vs-oneplus-one

OnePlus, a nascent company founded by ex-Oppo executives, still has a lot to prove before it can take a seat at the adult table. The company’s first smartphone, OnePlus One, is due to be launched on April 23rd. It has confirmed a few details about the specifications, but so far hasn’t given us a glimpse of the design or the materials its expected to use. Not wanting HTC to hog the spotlight today, the folks at OnePlus decided to take a swing at the All New HTC One.

It was only earlier today when HTC finally launched its 2014 flagship, the All New HTC One. The smartphone will be available from major U.S. carriers starting today. OnePlus took to its Facebook page to post a comparison of the two smartphones, sticking with its “#NeverSettle” mantra, it rhetorically asks fans “Which One is better?”

Both smartphones have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip. On paper, the OnePlus does have a larger display, doesn’t necessarily mean its going to be better. Same goes for the rear camera. These are things that can only be judged when the device is used in the real world. Yes, it does have a significantly bigger battery, and some might even like the fact that it won’t have an extra logo on the front.

The biggest advantage that OnePlus One has over the All New HTC One and its other rivals is price. Off contract and unlocked the HTC flagship costs $649.99, while OnePlus CEO has promised that the company’s first smartphone will be priced below $400. Obviously it remains to be seen if the design and build quality strikes a positive note with customers. If that doesn’t happen, the low price point won’t be of much use anyway.
