Price hikes are never appreciated. It doesn’t matter if its commodities or electronic gadgets, customers would rather not pay a higher price. However sometimes circumstances make it inevitable to put the price hike off from any longer. Customers in Canada who waited to purchase a PS4 on the assumption that its price would go down with time are in for a rude awakening. Sony has confirmed that the PS4 price in Canada is being hiked. The new price is already in effect.

The company doesn’t give a specific reason as to why the price is being jacked up. Though it does state in vague terms that this is being done to “respond to changes in the market environment. Speculators believe that this is due to the weakening Canadian dollar, which has left Sony with no choice but to jack up the price.

The console isn’t the only thing that going to cost more. Sony has also decided to increase the price of PS4 Dualshock 4 controller as well as the PlayStation camera from CAD$59.99 to CAD$64.99. Moreover, upcoming games for the console MLB The Show ’14 and Infamous: Second Son also get a price hike. Retail copies of both goes will now be sold for CAD$69.99 as opposed to the previous CAD $59.99.
